This document provides information and community supports for people experiencing or fleeing domestic violence in Calgary and surrounding areas. The guide is intended to help individuals navigate available resources, understand their options, and connect with confidential support.
2-1-1
211 helps Albertans find the right resource or service for whatever challenge they're facing. 211 is available 24/7 by phone, text and chat. The service is free, confidential and available in over 170 languages over the phone.
Health Link
A telephone service which provides free 24/7 advice and general health information for Albertans.
ConnecTeen Youth Crisis Line
ConnecTeen is a 24/7, free, and confidential crisis service for youth in Calgary, Alberta, offering support via phone, text, and chat. It provides peer support (trained volunteers of similar ages) to help with mental health issues, bullying, or feeling overwhelmed.
Moms Stop The Harm Support Line
Moms Stop the Harm offers a national peer support phone line - a safe and confidential space for anyone impacted by substance use or loss due to overdose. ​​​​​​​​​
24/7 mobile service for unhoused folks who may need non-emergency support, including help getting to a safe place, assistance accessing supports, or concerns involving intoxication.​​​​​​​​​
For folks sleeping on the street, call to receive help navigating and accessing supports including shelter, detox, housing programs, and basic needs.

A multi-agency collaborative that connects people to programs and services that help address barriers to stable housing. Partner agencies offer support with housing, justice, finances, mental health, communication access, and community connection.

One-stop access to multiple services, including same-day Alberta ID cards, government benefit programs, financial services, recovery and mental health supports, basic medical care, probation services, Indigenous supports, shelter navigation, and housing supports.

The Alex Community Health Centre

Skipping Stone Foundation

Offers a welcoming, positive, and judgement-free space for anyone who identities as trans, transgender, non-binary, or gender diverse, as well as those questioning, exploring or looking to affirming their gender identity or expression. Through a client-centered, collaborative approach, individuals are connected with a support team tailored specifically to them. These teams might include community team members, peer mentors and coaches, social workers, mental health and health care professionals, or more.
HER Victory

Support program for women involved in sex work, and/or caught in the sex trade, exploited or at risk of being trafficked. Drop-in supports include hot meals, showers, clothing, and care packages, and provide trusting, one-on-one outreach and case management. Individuals can be connected to housing, counselling, health supports, advocacy, and tailored long-term healing programs.
Substance Use Services
A treatment that provides initiation and maintenance of Opioid Agonist Treatment (OAT) medications and psychosocial support to people who use opiates. OAT medications (ie. methadone, Suboxone®) are available in all locations.
Supervised Consumption Service (SCS)
The SCS is a 24/7 facility where folks can inject, swallow, or snort their pre-obtained drugs in one of six designated booths. Consumption is under the supervision of registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and primary care paramedics, trained in overdose response and safer use education and practices. The SCS has peer support workers who can assist with resource referral and navigation, and connection to the Safeworks social worker.
Renfrew Recovery Centre (RRC)
Publicly funded, medically supported inpatient detoxification for adults (18+) withdrawing from alcohol and/or other drugs. Services include stabilization, medication support, counselling, education, and treatment planning with referrals for further care. Intakes are available seven days a week at 7:00 a.m., or beds can be booked in advance by phone. Smoking is prohibited during stay but nicotine replacements are provided.
Alpha House Detox
Publicly funded, medically supported inpatient detoxification for adults (18+) withdrawing from alcohol and/or other drugs. Services include 24/7 nursing care, medication support, and counselling from addiction counsellors. Intake assessments can be completed over the phone or in person. Assessments are conducted twice daily at 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., though you may call at any time to inquire about bed availability. Smoking is permitted.
Drop-In Centre Detox
Publicly funded, medically supported inpatient detoxification services for adults (18+) withdrawing from alcohol and/or drugs. Admissions operate on a first-come, first-served basis seven days a week from 7:15–9:30 a.m. and in the afternoon from 1:00–2:30 p.m. Programming includes addictions counselling, recovery care planning, goal setting, and discharge planning, diversion and housing support, life skills development, and wellness activities. Smoking is permitted.
Adult
Addiction Services
Free and voluntary addiction treatment for adults experiencing concerns related to alcohol and other drug use, gambling, and sexual behaviours, as well as support for those concerned about a loved one’s use. Services include short-term outpatient counselling, individual and group programming, education and skills-based groups, and four-week intensive day treatment programs.
Rapid Access Addiction Medicine (RAAM) is also available, offering physician and counsellor-led care, including medications for cravings and withdrawal, home detox support, medical and mental health assessments, and short-term counselling.
Youth Substance
Use & Mental Health Services
A 14-day, live-in support program for youth ages 12–18 experiencing substance use and/or mental health concerns. The program provides safe withdrawal support, stabilization and psychosocial care, and helps youth and families plan for next steps in treatment and community resources. Referrals and admissions are ongoing based on bed availability.
Virtual Opioid Dependency Program (VODP)
A province-wide, free virtual clinic that provides medically supported opioid dependency care, including same-day starts of opioid agonist treatment (e.g., methadone or Suboxone) and ongoing medication management, counselling, and support. Medications can be dispensed close to home. Seven days a week, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
