Distress Centre
No-cost 24-hour crisis support, professional counselling, youth peer support and referrals through 2-1-1 and programs at SORCe.

Suicide Crisis Helpline
If you're struggling to cope or dealing with thoughts of suicide, or if you're worried about someone else,  text or call 9-8-8: Suicide Crisis Helpline.

2-1-1
211 helps Albertans find the right resource or service for whatever challenge they're facing. 211 is available 24/7 by phone, text and chat. The service is free, confidential and available in over 170 languages over the phone.

Health Link
A telephone service which provides free 24/7 advice and general health information for Albertans.

ConnecTeen Youth Crisis Line
ConnecTeen is a 24/7, free, and confidential crisis service for youth in Calgary, Alberta, offering support via phone, text, and chat. It provides peer support (trained volunteers of similar ages) to help with mental health issues, bullying, or feeling overwhelmed. 

Moms Stop The Harm Support Line

Moms Stop the Harm offers a national peer support phone line - a safe and confidential space for anyone impacted by substance use or loss due to overdose. Whether you’re a parent, family member, or friend supporting someone who uses substances, or you’re navigating the profound grief that follows loss, you don’t have to face it alone. 

Thursdays and Fridays, from 3:00–9:00 PM PT / 5:00–11:00 PM CT / 6:00 PM–12:00 AM ET.

Overdose & Spotting Hotlines

SafeSpot Overdose Hotline 

SafeSpot is a 24/7 virtual spotting hotline for people who use drugs. 

Community Resources

SORCe (Safe Communities Opportunity & Resource Centre)

A multi-agency collaborative that connects people experiencing or at risk of houselessness to programs and services that can help to address the barriers to stable housing. Walk-in hours 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. daily.

Navigation & Support Centre

The Nav Centre provides a one-stop shop for critical services for all people experiencing houselessness. Supports include same-day ID, legal support, income assistance, and much more. Mon-Fri: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

SMART Clinic

Low-barrier outpatient clinic that provides medical services to folks navigating substance use and mental health challenges, and also offers gender-affirming care.

The Alex Community Health Centre

Offers primary medical care, mental health and substance use support services, youth-specific programming (Youth Health Centre), seniors' health care, and dentistry.

CUPS Calgary

Provides free, low-barrier medical care, mental health services, and addiction supports for individuals and families experiencing poverty, trauma, or marginalization. The clinic offers primary care, prenatal/postnatal care, specialist referrals, lab work, vaccinations, and housing support to improve health and stability. 

SafeLink

Low-barrier harm reduction, health, and support services. Core services include HIV/STI/Hep C testing, naloxone kitssafer substance use and sex supplies, basic food/hygiene items, and case management. They also offer specialized support for sex workers, outreach, and education. 

Skipping Stone Foundation
A trans-centred resource that assembles a support team for each individual tailored specifically to them. These teams include community team members, peer mentors and coaches, social workers, mental health and health care professionals, or more.

Calgary Counselling Centre
Accessible individual and group counselling services with a sliding-scale fee based on client incomes.

Aboriginal Friendship Centre

​Serves the urban Indigenous population with a focus on cultural reconnection, community support, and education. 

Domestic Violence Resource Booklet

This document provides information and community supports for people experiencing or fleeing domestic violence in Calgary and surrounding areas. The guide is intended to help individuals navigate available resources, understand their options, and connect with confidential support.

Substance Use Services

A treatment that provides initiation and maintenance of Opioid Agonist Treatment (OAT) medications and psychosocial support to people who use opiates. OAT medications (ie. methadone, Suboxone®) are available in all locations. 

Supervised Consumption Service (SCS)

The SCS is a 24/7 facility where folks can inject, swallow, or snort their pre-obtained drugs in one of six designated booths. Consumption is under the supervision of registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and primary care paramedics, trained in overdose response and safer use education and practices. The SCS has peer support workers who can assist with resource referral and navigation, and connection to the Safeworks social worker. 

Renfrew Recovery Centre (RRC)

Publicly funded, medically supported inpatient detoxification for adults (18+) withdrawing from alcohol and/or other drugs. Services include stabilization, medication support, counselling, education, and treatment planning with referrals for further care. Intakes are available seven days a week at 7:00 a.m., or beds can be booked in advance by phone. Smoking is prohibited during stay but nicotine replacements are provided. 

Alpha House Detox

Publicly funded, medically supported inpatient detoxification for adults (18+) withdrawing from alcohol and/or other drugs. Services include 24/7 nursing care, medication support, and counselling from addiction counsellors. Intake assessments can be completed over the phone or in person. Assessments are conducted twice daily at 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., though you may call at any time to inquire about bed availability. Smoking is permitted. 

Drop-In Centre Detox

Publicly funded, medically supported inpatient detoxification services for adults (18+) withdrawing from alcohol and/or drugs. Admissions operate on a first-come, first-served basis seven days a week from 7:15–9:30 a.m. and in the afternoon from 1:00–2:30 p.m. Programming includes addictions counselling, recovery care planning, goal setting, and discharge planning, diversion and housing support, life skills development, and wellness activities. Smoking is permitted. 

Adult
Addiction Services

Free and voluntary addiction treatment for adults experiencing concerns related to alcohol and other drug use, gambling, and sexual behaviours, as well as support for those concerned about a loved one’s use. Services include short-term outpatient counselling, individual and group programming, education and skills-based groups, and four-week intensive day treatment programs.

Rapid Access Addiction Medicine (RAAM) is also available, offering physician and counsellor-led care, including medications for cravings and withdrawal, home detox support, medical and mental health assessments, and short-term counselling. 

Youth Substance
Use & Mental Health Services

A 14-day, live-in support program for youth ages 12–18 experiencing substance use and/or mental health concerns. The program provides safe withdrawal support, stabilization and psychosocial care, and helps youth and families plan for next steps in treatment and community resources. Referrals and admissions are ongoing based on bed availability.

Virtual Opioid Dependency Program (VODP)

A province-wide, free virtual clinic that provides medically supported opioid dependency care, including same-day starts of opioid agonist treatment (e.g., methadone or Suboxone) and ongoing medication management, counselling, and support. Medications can be dispensed close to home. Seven days a week, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
